Hello,
My name is Kimberly Riemer. I am a granddaughter of the founder of the company, Harry Riemer. My father, Keith Riemer, and two of his brothers, Paul and Dennis, run the company now. Currently I am the only grandchild working at the company.
I graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in social work. I worked for a year at Pontiac Central High School running a program to prevent the dropout rate. I then began working at Riemer Floors selling floor covering to retail customers and builder accounts. I have been selling for twenty years.
A couple of years ago I wanted to learn something new and I always thought American Sign Language was interesting. So, I began researching it and found a program at Baker College. I took classes while continuing to work at the store. I began attending deaf events to practice and to continue to learn the language. I was able to meet many deaf people at these different events. I found the Deaf culture to be very proud and tight knit, yet very accepting of me as a hearing person. I was very surprised how patient the deaf were with me as I was learning their language. I truly enjoyed learning ASL. I found it to be a very beautiful language.
I would like to continue to use my ASL skills while working at Riemer Floors. I feel I can bridge the communication gap for the Deaf community while purchasing floor covering. I can make a difficult and confusing process fun, easy to understand, and enjoyable. Please allow me to help you find the right product for your home.
