Carpet Care & Maintenance
|
The proper care and
cleaning of your carpet will prolong its life and maximize its color, texture,
and appearance. Riemer recommends the following tips for the proper care &
maintenance of your carpet. For specific tips regarding your carpet, please
check with your manufacturer.
- Vacuum
regularly with a good vacuum. Daily vacuuming of
high-traffic areas is optimal. A good vacuum is crucial so that you ensure that
you are not wasting your time and getting all of the dust, crumbs, and dirt that
accumulates in your carpet on a daily basis.
- Use Runners
& Mats. Runners and mats are crucial to the
life of your carpet. Place in high-traffic areas and areas with excessive
sunlight. Make sure to move the mats occassionally.
- Rearrange
furniture periodically. Change is good! Move your furniture
(along with your runners and mats) occasionally so that impressions are not
permanent in your carpet.
- Clean
stains immediately. Don't wait when you spill! Clean it
up immediately with a soft cloth (never a brush). Pre-test when using a cleaner
you've never used. Lastly, make sure all cleaner is out of the carpet by
blotting the carpet with water and a soft cloth. Repeat as
necessary.
- Get an annual professional cleaning.
Spring for an annual professional
cleaning to get out all of the dirt and grime you just can't. It's worth the
money in the long run.
