For centuries the name Ardebil has been unsurpassed in the name of carpet weaving, solely on account of two famous 16th century pieces, a magnificent pair of rugs one of which is now in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The name 'Ziegler' refers to Ziegler & Co., a British/Swiss firm that established offices in Tabriz, and later Sultanabad in the 19th Century for the purpose of exporting exotic luxuries, including rugs, to Europe. These rugs were distinguished by all-over large-scale lattice vine patterns surrounded by unusually wide borders. A century later, we find this same simplicity compliments the demand for a more contemporary look in transitional style. To add our own touch of luxury, the motifs throughout have been accented with genuine silk...simply luminous.
