What's Hot in Tile?

Riemer Floors

Glass and mosiacs are all the rage! They are now being combined with with metals and stone for one-of-a-kind designs.  Also, larger and elongated rectangular tiles have taken over the more traditional 12 x12 options. Popular sizes include 18x18, 18x24, 20x20 and even 24x24.
Tile Installation Best Practices
At Riemer Floors we use the state-of-the-art techniques and products to ensure that each tile floor is properly installed.  As an example, we offer thinset, Dietra and even old school mud installations to provide a consistent floor surface and to reduce the chances of cracking due to any subfloor flexing.

Using Tile in Outdoor LivingOutdoor Living Spaces
Gone are the days of concrete patios with a grill sitting on top. A growing trend across the country is making outdoor spaces true living spaces. Homeowners are choosing to install fully functional kitchens within a beautiful tile framework. When a space like this is created, it is critical to choose tile that is frost resistant which means it has a  water absorption rate of less than 3%. Since porcelain tiles usually have a much lower water absorption rate (less than 0.5%) than non-porcelain tiles, they are a great choice for outdoor space. We look forward to working with you on your next outdoor project.

Going Green with Tile Floors! Dal-Tile
For environmentally-conscious homeowners, tile is a logical flooring choice. It has been around for thousands of years and is basically baked dirt! However, the manufacturing process can vary considerably and can differentiate who has the "greenest" product since the process of making the tile can be harmful to the environment. Dal-Tile, one of our premiere tile partners, is a leader in the industry of incorporating environmentally-friendly materials and processes. For example, scrap tile generated during Dal-Tile's manufacturing processes is recycled to the maximum extent possible into new tile products. Also their manufacturing operations utilize natural gas as an energy source. No fuel oils or coals are utilized in our processes; therefore, using this clean burning natural resource minimizes air emissions.
